The Mornington Peninsula
This weekend was beautiful - even though it is winter we had 20 degree days this weekend (low 70s) and we headed off down to the Mornington Peninsula. You can see a map of our trip by checking the Mornington Peninsula photo album to the right. The Peninsula jet’s off of the State of Victoria directly south of Melbourne. As the Peninsula thins out toward the tip, there is only about 1 kilometre from the inside where the Port Phillip Bay is, and from the Ocean side where the Bass Strait is located. We spent the day on the Peninsula and had lunch at The Baths, which is a small restaurant on the Bay side where we had some fish and chips. You’ll notice in the photo album I have taken some shots of the changing boxes that are owned and line the Bay up and down the Peninsula’s edge. This was a fantastic daytrip with some great views!

Demons v. BombersMelbourne Demons beat the Essendon Bombers yesterday by 10 points - it was the determining game for Melbourne to get into the finals this year! We attended the game again this week and it is becoming a regular thing on weekends to try to catch a game. What’s cool about it is that we take the train there (similar to BART) we drive to a station, park, and hop on the train to go to downtown Melbourne. The train is packed and standing-room only each time we go - I feel like a sardine, side-by-side with team mates and the opposition alike. Once we get to the game the $5 beers, chips (fries) with chicken salt and sausage rolls really start flowing. We’ve been getting seats on the 4th level lately so we get a good overall view of the game, it’s a very contagious sport - I really love it.
